Pearson Jr. scores 10th-place finish in Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson

After Mother Nature shifted Thursday’s event to Friday afternoon, Earl Pearson Jr. was one 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries registered at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the Cowboy Classic. With the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race lining him 18th on the starting grid for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Earl brought out the first caution of the race on the seventh lap with damage to the body of his right-rear. Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Pearson Jr. came in ninth in his group before placing third in his heat race. With $6,000 on the line in the feature, Earl marched forward eight spots in the 40-lapper to finish 10th.

With preliminary results on Friday earning Earl the 17th-starting position for Saturday night’s $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100, Pearson Jr. improved one spot in the 100-lapper to place 16th.

Earl is tied for 13th in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
