EPJ scores sixth-place finish in Rumble by the River prelim

Thursday saw Earl Pearson Jr. back on the road with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) as the three-day Rumble by the River got underway at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.). With 43 Late Models entered, Earl was forced to take a provisional into the preliminary feature after failing to qualify in his heat race and B-Main. The following night, Pearson came in sixth in his heat before picking up a 10-lap consolation victory. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 17th, Earl passed 11 cars in the 40-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.

Mother Nature won Saturday's $30,000-to-win Rumble by the River finale.

Earl remains in 11th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
